Effective engagement between civil society and accountability institutions can help address the OGP grand challenges of enhancing public integrity, effectively managing public resources, and improving public service delivery. Moreover, their active involvement in the OGP could contribute to the successful implementation of country action plans. In this sense, civil society organizations play a key role. As beneficiaries of state interventions, and as co-creators of OGP National Action Plans, they stand in a unique position to bring accountability institutions on board. But how can civil society organizations reach out to accountability institutions? What strategies can be developed to engage them in the OGP?

This session brings together civil society practitioners from different regions to discuss the strategies and practices they have developed to foster collaboration with accountability institutions and to advance engagement in OGP processes in their respective countries. The session will reflect on the benefits and challenges of this collaboration and will help identify entry points for engagement between civil society and accountability institutions around OGP as well as strategies to address the challenges of further pursuing this cooperation.

Directora, Abriendo Datos Costa Rica
