Tonu leads OGP's cross-organizational program on thematic priorities, to advance reforms on sectors such as anti-corruption and civic space, through OGP action plans. She focuses on supporting the OGP Steering Committee’s engagement on thematic issues, strengthening OGP’s work with civil society and other partners, and identifying peer learning opportunities for OGP stakeholders.

Tonu has consulted on international open government projects, including with Transparency for Development at the Harvard Kennedy School, UN Women, and the World Bank. She was part of the coalition driving India's Right to Information campaign and serves on the founding Executive Committee of SNS India, that promotes social accountability working with marginalized communities. She holds an MSc in Politics and Communication from the London School of Economics and an MPA from Harvard Kennedy School, where she was a Public Service Fellow.
